Yes. LUMA covers your medical and travel costs if you are injured riding, or as a passenger on, a motorbike or scooter bike, including e-bikes and electric scooters. You must wear a helmet, follow local traffic laws, and hold a valid licence for the bike you are riding. Riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs is not covered.
It depends on the activity. Snorkelling, swimming, and recreational surfing are covered.
Scuba diving is not covered on the standard plans, so if diving is part of your trip, check with our team before you book.
Competitive watersports, and anything classed as a hazardous activity, are not covered, so confirm cover for your specific plan first.
Yes. Bali belly, the traveller's diarrhoea many visitors pick up from contaminated food or water, is one of the most common things to interrupt a Bali trip. A few habits cut the risk: skip tap water and ice, wash your hands, and avoid food left out at room temperature.
Yes. LUMA covers the medical treatment for an animal bite, including the rabies treatment and antibiotics usually given after a monkey bite. Bites happen around Bali's Ubud Monkey Forest, where visitors get close to wild macaques. If you are bitten, clean the wound and seek medical attention straight away, and make sure your tetanus protection is current before you travel.

The overall standard of healthcare in Indonesia may not be suitable for serious medical or surgical conditions.
For international travelers facing significant illness or injury, we can recommend medical evacuation to a suitable medical facility. In some cases, this could be in another country, like Singapore or Thailand.
Bali has decent hospitals and clinics in the main tourist areas, but serious or specialist cases sometimes need a higher level of care than the island provides.
LUMA works with a network of hospitals across Indonesia and the wider region, and if a hospital cannot treat you, we arrange transfer to a better-equipped facility, including to Singapore or Bangkok when needed. All LUMA Travel insurance plans include full medical evacuation cover.
In most cases you would need to pay the medical bill and submit your claim for reimbursement afterward.
The exception is larger bills: when hospital expenses are expected to exceed USD 1,000 and the arrangement is coordinated by LUMA or our designated assistance company, we can settle directly with the hospital.

The amount paid is set by your plan's benefit limits, which your certificate confirms.
It depends on your nationality. As of June 2026, travellers from most countries, including the UK, US, Australia, Canada, and most of Europe, can enter on a Visa on Arrival or e-VOA: 30 days, extendable once to 60, for IDR 500,000 (about USD 35).
ASEAN nationals can enter visa-free. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from arrival, and you will need an onward ticket.
If you fly into Bali, you also pay a separate Bali tourist levy of IDR 150,000 (about USD 10).

Yes, Bali has active volcanoes, Mount Agung being the most prominent, and past eruptions have disrupted flights from the island.
