About LUMA Travel Insurance: Global Expertise & Support

LUMA Travel works with trusted global insurers to design specialized insurance plans for short trips, extended stays, business travel, and group journeys. But what we really offer is the confidence that a real person will actually answer the phone when things go wrong — and they'll know exactly what to do about it.


Our service is built on a foundation of medical expertise. Our in-house doctors and Medipro professionals — our specialized medical support team — provide real medical guidance, from hospital referrals to second opinions, based on the urgency and severity of each case.


Today, LUMA Travel offers high-cover medical emergency protection for travelers worldwide, but brings something most travel insurers don't: on-ground teams in Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Phnom Penh, and Yangon who actually know these destinations.


When travelers get sick in Southeast Asia and need the ER or urgent medical care, they're not calling a call center reading from a script. Our Story

LUMA Travel grew out of LUMA Health, the health insurance specialist founded in 2012 by Paul-Dominique and Vic in Bangkok.


For years, LUMA Health focused solely on long-term health insurance across Southeast Asia. But our clients kept asking for the same level of professional care for their shorter trips — covering trip cancellations, baggage loss, travel delays, and emergency evacuations.


That's the gap LUMA Travel was built to fill.


In 2020, when COVID turned international travel into complete chaos, LUMA launched its travel insurance solutions. While borders closed and entry requirements changed by the hour, the LUMA team helped travelers navigate the complexity — processing same-day policies, updating requirements constantly, and answering calls at all hours. When other travel insurers pulled out of Asia, LUMA leaned in.
