For a France tourist Schengen visa, you need:

• Completed and signed Schengen visa application form, submitted through the France-Visas online portal.
• Valid passport, issued within the last 10 years, valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area, with at least 2 blank pages.
• Two recent passport-style photos, meeting Schengen visa photo specifications.

Malaysian passport holders currently do not require a short-stay visa to visit France for less than 90 days. For any visa that is required, such as for a longer or non-tourist stay, Malaysia has no outsourced visa centre; applications go directly to the Embassy of France in Kuala Lumpur. It is recommended to check the requirements before you travel via the France-Visas site in case of any change in requirements.

The process generally runs like this:

1. Complete the application form on the official France-Visas portal.
2. Find your visa application center. France uses TLScontact in most countries and VFS Global in others, and the France-Visas site tells you which one covers yours.
